At its regular meeting on April 27, 2026, the Indian River Board of Education approved a series of changes to the 2025-2026 school district calendar.
- The last day of school for students in Grades K-11 will now be Friday, June 5.
- The last day for preschool will be Thursday, June 4.
- Final exams at Indian River and Sussex Central high schools will be on Thursday, June 4 and Friday, June 5.
- The last day for teachers will be Tuesday, June 9. (Classroom breakdown day.)
- The last day for paraprofessionals will be Friday, June 5.
- Monday, June 8 will be a remote half grades, half teacher work day for teachers.
The changes resulted from unused surplus hours built into the calendar to account for weather-related school cancellations.
