Mary H. Bailey Scholarship

The Mary H. Bailey Scholarship is awarded to worthy and deserving students of Sussex Central High School to assist them in financing their education beyond high school. This scholarship is currently awarding $2,000 per year and is renewable for three additional years if the application policies are met. Mary H. Bailey Scholarship - Renewal (Updated guidelines and application coming soon)


Students who have been awarded the Mary H. Bailey  Scholarship in their senior year understand that:
  1. Scholarships are only renewed/awarded for a total of four years.
  2. Scholarships are not for graduate/professional study beyond the baccalaureate degree.
  3. Scholarships are not renewed/awarded to students who do not maintain a 2.50 GPA.

The  renewal  application must be received at the Indian River School District, Attn: Personnel Department, 31 Hosier Street, Selbyville, DE 19975,  and time stamped by 4:00 pm, Thursday, June 15, 2017. MARY H. BAILEY SCHOLARSHIP RENEWAL APPLICATION

Lucille M. Tiro Scholarship

The Lucille M. Tiro Scholarship is for an underprivileged female student from either Indian River High School or Sussex Central High School to attend college. The student should have good grades, be an avid book reader and be interested in pursuing an art degree.  However, all others may be considered. Applicants must write a short essay about themselves, including their hopes and dreams for the future.

Candidates should complete the form below and submit the required essay to the guidance department by May 1, 2017. The Lucille M. Tiro Scholarship will be awarded in May at the recipient’s high school awards ceremony.

James L. Rickards Sr. Scholarship

This $250 scholarship is given to one student from either Indian River High School or Sussex Central High School. Applicants must be African-American male athletes who have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and who plan to continue their education at a two- or four-year accredited college program. Contact your high school guidance counselor for more information.

Indian River High School Alumni Association – IR Pride Scholarship (Updated guidelines and application coming soon)

The Indian River High School Alumni Association is proud to offer the $1,000 IR Pride Scholarship for graduating seniors. This award isn’t about academics or financial aid, but your school spirit at Indian River High School. Whether you’re a scholar, captain, club leader or just genuinely proud of your school, the alumni association wants to hear about it. Eligible students must graduate from Indian River High School this spring and must become full-time students at an accredited two- or four-year college or trade school in the fall. Winners will be announced at graduation in May.

IR PRIDE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Indian River School District Administrative Scholarship

This $300 scholarship is awarded to students who plan to pursue a teaching career. It will be awarded to one student from each district high school. Candidates must complete the application form below and attach a 100-200 word essay explaining why they are pursuing a teaching career. Applications must be turned in at your high school guidance office no later than May 10, 2017. Contact your high school guidance counselor for more information.
